WEEK 2 "WE RAP IN OUR SPARE TIME..."

Week two down in the MTC and I am already getting a little antsy to leave. But my amazing companions and I are still making the most of it:) HUGE THANK YOU to whoever sent me Chip Cookies- That was very thoughtful of you:) Here are some funny things that happened this week.

First off, we rap in our spare time... this weeks episode is of Elder Ford and Elder Livingston. Elder Ford is literally a genius with improv on the piano. Elder Livingston is pretty musically talented too with rapping. He can come up with some pretty clever lyrics on the spot. Coming soon... Hermana Richards, Curtis and Bashford's rap. You all better get excited.
Next, we were teaching our third lesson to our incredible investigator Teresa. My companions and I were really really nervous because she had just dropped some pretty intense news on us. My companion Sister Curtis had a pen in her hand and due to the intensity of the lesson, she accidentally snapped it in half... In a dead quiet moment of the lesson, I couldn't keep it together so of course, I burst out laughing and then all of us do. Now we have designated that pen to be our "holy pen."

When we have breaks from studying Espanol I organize our daily wall squat competitions to wake us up and get our blood moving. We sit all day in our classroom and it feels like FOREVER so when it is wall squat competition time we are all stoked.. except for Elder Reyes... He just pretends to do a squat and puts on a good face.
The sisters that are in our zone live right next to us and it is the best. We love them so much. When we come in from the day we always meet in the living room area and tell funny stories that happened that day. This particular week was especially good. One of the Hermana's accidentally burnt her neck pretty bad that morning. So she came in that night with hilarious stories of trying to cover up her burn so other people wouldn't think it was a hickey.

I cannot believe how similar I am to my companions. If any of you know me well enough you know that I forget/ lose everything. And they do too. Mom, I'm not the only one who forgets everything. So every day at least one of us walks out the door without something on or in our bags. This particular day Hermana Curtis forgot to take off her shower shoes... I thought it was a nice look.
But on a more serious note my favorite day this week was Sunday. We got a break from our language classes and focused on soaking up the spirit as much as we could. During the evening we watched President Bendar's talk called Character of Christ. One of my favorite parts of his talk is how he challenges each of us to turn outward and focus on how we can lift others during circumstances when the natural man would turn inward. For example, he tells a story of how a mother loses her daughter in a car accident and on the night of her daughters funeral she chooses to bring a homemade meal to someone in her neighborhood who is sick. To be the best versions of ourselves we need to learn this concept. To become like Christ we need to turn outward especially during the times when we want to only think of ourselves. This is one of the noblest characters of Christ. I have made goals to turn outward when I feel pain or when I feel homesick or when I am self-pitying myself. And I challenge you all to do the same. I love my Savior and I know He lives. I know He is in the details of our lives. I love you all and I hope you all have a fabulous week.
