WEEK 56 "HYSTERICAL MESS (SCROLL TO THE BOTTOM)"
Hello everyone!
How's it going? If you're bored of my letters I'm not offended at all! I get bored of them myself too. Just feel free to scroll through the pictures!
This week included a lot of lessons and activities falling through, but it's okay becuase the good parts of the mission always outweigh the bad!
We had a super solid lesson with our cute family that we are teaching -Rolando and Teresa and their 3 daughters. As we walked into their house we looked at Teresa and she no longer had big black bags under her eyes and then we looked across the room at Rolando and we gasped and said you look competely different!!!! They both responded, "yes we know we feel different too!" We opened to the powerful story of Enos. At the end we told them that we were going to take a couple minutes to think in silent about the ways that we have experienced mighty changes wrought through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. (We did this becuase we are trying to let the spirit teach more jaja).
As we came back to share our thoughts, Rolando the dad had a huge smile on his face and told us that he has experienced that mighty change this past week. He came to church for the very first time that week and told us that he was committed for the rest of his life. He told us that the spirit he felt in the meetings testified to him that he has found the path that God wants him to be on. To see someone's countenance change completely and to see light creep back into someone's eyes in less than a week is pure evidence that Jesus Christ lives. Rolando and Teresa are walking proof that we all can recieve a change of heart and recieve the countenance of God in our eyes again. I loveeee Alma 5, it's actually my dad's favorite chapter in the book of Mormon and verse 14 says
'And now behold, I ask of you, my brethren of the church, have ye spiritually been born of God? Have ye received his image in your countenances? Have ye experienced this mighty change in your hearts.'
This scripture also reminded me of another really cool experience this week that we had with a guy named Angel. He had told us that he had been to a church before and was hurt by the pastor and so he had given up on church in general. Sadly we come across this all the time. However as we went on to get to know him we found out that he had been dealing with a recent family death. I shared my favorite in mosíah 16: 7-9. He still was very hard-hearted. He went on to explain how we shouldn't try and help him becuase we didn't know how he felt. He asked us what we saw in his eyes and my cute companion immediately said, "hope." That one word was the game changer. He immediately felt the spirit and we saw his heart immediatly change. After, we testified of Jesus Christ and his perfect love. He later told us that he would come to church this next week. As we were walking away he told us that we looked different. And he later texted us and told us that something was different in our eyes.
I know that the gospel of Jesus Christ is a Gospel of change. Everyday in my personal study as I meditate on the greatest event of all history, the atonement of Jesus Christ.. I just think to myself.... we would all be lost, helpless and in a state of misery without the fearless, faith-filled perfect sacrifice that our Savior gave to each one of us. He did it out of perfect love so that we may be able to feel of that perfect light re-enter our lives.
I know He Lives and I know that He is anxiously waiting to be apart of our lives, all we have to do is let Him in. That is something that I'm learning each day. I am trying harder to listen, and let Him in. I know that the very church that the Savior of the world established over 2000 years ago is on the earth again. Jesus Christ directs this same church through a prophet who has been called of God. I know Christ will return again and when he does, we need to be ready. I love Him and I'm striving each day to love Him more.
I hope you find a way this week to let Him in!!!
Love you all! thanks for the emails:)))

Funnies:
-This past week I attempted to hop a fence becuase we were super late to an appointment and nearly ripped my shirt...
- I decided to take some caffine pills that my mom shipped me at the Begining of my mission. Let's just say I couldn't stop laughing and crying alllll day. I was a hysterical mess
